As a centre of excellence in HIV and AIDS management, the training department’s mandate is to build capacity in the health sector at national level. As a ministry of health certified training centre and also as a Medical Council of Malawi and Nurses Council certified CPD centre, Lighthouse offers a number of national curricular trainings like HIV Testing and Counseling, Palliative Care, ART for health professionals, Basic Statics for Program managers and supervisors, and other Lighthouse Certified trainings like Conference presentation skills, HIV Basics, Basic and advanced facilitation skills. The department also emphasizes on capacity building through mentoring and supervision internally and at national level working closely with Ministry of health to develop tools and conduct mentoring to health centres.
We work closely with the Community Based Organization, in the city of Lilongwe, in their capacity building endeavors through curriculum development, implementation and evaluation.
Lighthouse is Very well positioned as a centre for continuing professional education for local and international university student; locally attaching students from University of Malawi, College of Medicine, Kamuzu College of Nursing, Lilongwe College of Health Sciences, Dae-Young Luke College of Nursing, Natural Resource college and others whilst internationally hosting research and attachment students from London school of Tropical Medicine, University of North Carolina and Heidelberg University in Germany.

Approximately 3 weeks prior to the training, you will be contacted regarding your application. Successful applicants will be notified. If the course is full and we can not accommodate your application, you will be put onto a waiting list in case of cancellations. Priority for all trainings will be given to applicants from the DHO and Ministry of Health. Second priority will be given to other health care providers. Other organizations will be admitted as space allows.
