4.5. Normal pouch of Douglas (female): The normal female pelvic anatomy with an anteflected uterus is visible. The anechoic fluid close to the transducer (right side of the image) is the urinary bladder. Behind the bladder, the cervical area and the vagina are visible. Behind this is the area where free fluid may be located. Note the bowel loops filled with gas, behind the uterine corpus. An ovary with multiple small cysts is briefly visible behind the uterus..
