5.4. Abdominal TB LN (lymph nodes), another example: This clip shows another example of very hypoechoic lymph nodes in the epigastric area. The patient had been taking TB medication for 2 months and HIV treatment for 6 weeks. The persistent LN were probably due to Immune Reconstitution Inflammatory Syndrome (IRIS), as the aspirate showed TB histology but no growth in TB culture. The nodes eventually disappeared in the course of treatment. Note again the “blinking” appearance of the nodes upon movement of the transducer, which is characteristic of spherical structures.
