Chapter 8: Chest


7.15 Liver cirrhosis: The liver is surrounded by anechoic ascites (due to portal hypertension). The surface of the organs is irregular and the regenerative nodules create a “bumpy” appearance. There are no vessels visible in the liver, due to the rarification of the vasculature. The texture of the liver is coarse (though this is difficult to determine and could be a subjective perception). Note the sludge and the stones in the adjacent gallbladder.
